About me (Your teacher)
A long time ago, a former boss of mine once said this to me: "Stephan, your job is to make a thousand more of you."
I was tasked with setting up a Germany-wide pedagogical department for her new business language school, and she was referring to the very good feedback I'd been getting as a language teacher - and my task of recruiting and training hundreds of new language teachers to wow our clients and make them excel at learning the language.
That was over 20 years ago. I don't think I ever really succeeded in "cloning" myself, and I certainly made a lot of mistakes and missteps along the way - from which I have learned what makes a truly great teacher, an effective teaching method, useful and relevant material and exercises, and a sensible classroom setup.
With over 10,000 teaching units under my belt (both German and English), having successfully run that department, coached hundreds of teachers and managers, and co-founded my own language school (specialized in German courses for English-speaking expats) in Berlin in 2012, I have never really been able to let go of that idea: being able to offer my teaching to anyone, anytime, while making that as affordable and convenient as possible.
Enter Deutschable, my passion project, in which I aim to help people learn German through my exclusive online video lessons. Simple, clear, engaging, available, designed for English speakers, and without any bureaucracy, confusion, time-wasters, conflicts, questionable teachers and teaching methods, inconveniences, distractions, and procrastination.
I want to share what I know with as many people as possible while keeping the price low - I hope you enjoy my videos and I really hope to "see you in class"!
