Natur is one of the 1000 most frequently used nouns in German, and it’s used in everyday conversations — especially when people talk about weather, seasons, free time, and health.

Short examples in all four cases:

Nominative:
Die Natur ist wunderschön.
Nature is beautiful.

Accusative:
Wir lieben die Natur.
We love nature.

Dative:
Ich bin gern in der Natur.
I enjoy being in nature.

Genitive:
Die Farben der Natur sind beruhigend.
The colors of nature are calming.

Some typical phrases and collocations:

  • in der Natur sein – to be in nature

  • die Natur genießen – to enjoy nature

  • der Naturfreund – nature lover
